Proverbs 1:27-34 / Luke 8:16-18
There is a simple prayer method called the practice of the presence of God.
In its basic form, a person just have to keep reminding himself that God is always present with him.
It is a simple prayer method as it does not have any specific prayer forms or stipulated prayers.
It only requires the person to keep reminding himself that God is always present with him.
Reflecting on the 1st reading, when a person is always aware of the presence of God, then he would do what is good and loving.
He would be kind and generous, he would not plot harm or pick up a groundless quarrel against anyone.
Because he is aware that God is always present and God sees and knows what is being done.
But that should not make a person feel that he is being watched and monitored.
Rather, the practice of the presence of God is like a lamp on a lamp-stand that shines the light for him to walk in the ways of the Lord.
Prayer is certainly necessary for the spiritual life.
And prayer would also make us aware and keep practicing the presence of God in all we do and in the people we meet.
