Philippians 4:10-19 / Luke 16:9-13

Many things have been said about the subject of money:

Money makes the world go round; money can't buy happiness but it will pay the bills; money reveals a person's character, etc.

Of course there is the well-known "money is the root of all evil".

Actually money is not the root of all evil, but the obsession and the greed for money is the problem.

That is why Jesus warns us in the gospel: If then you cannot be trusted with money, that tainted thing, who will trust you with genuine riches? And if you cannot be trusted with what is not yours, who will give you what is your very own?

The deeper issue is about contentment. If we are not satisfied with what we have, then we will fall into the trap of greed and avarice.

And when left unchecked, then it will grow into an excessive, extreme desire that will have damaging consequences.

Even though if we have little, then let us listen to what Jesus is saying: The man who can be trusted in little things can be trusted in great; the man who is dishonest in little things will be dishonest in great.

Regardless of how much or how little money we have, let us know that we depend on the Lord God in all things because it is He who sustains our life.

Happy are we who put our trust in the Lord and depend on Him as He leads us in His ways.
