Acts 5:34-42 / John 6:1-15
There are things that are within our control and there are other things that are beyond our control.
We can switch on and off the lights but we cannot switch on or off the sunlight. We can turn the tap for the water to flow or stop, but we cannot turn the skies on for rain or to stop it.
When we understand this fundamental law, then we will also come to realize who is the Creator and who is the creature.
In the 1st reading, we heard that the Sanhedrin tried to stop the apostles from preaching about Jesus.
But one of them, called Gamaliel, reasoned with the members of the Sanhedrin that if the apostles were of human origin, then it would break up on its own accord. In other words, they don't even have to do anything to stop them.
But if what the apostles were doing is from God, then there is no stopping them. What's more they might find themselves fighting against God.
In the gospel, when Jesus asked Philip where to buy bread to feed the crowds, the gospel also stated that He said that to test Philip. Jesus Himself knew exactly what He was going to do.
Yes, there is no stopping what God wants to do. For if we try to resist and obstruct what God wants to do then we might just find ourselves fighting with ourselves.
More importantly, let us ask for the guidance to see what God wants to do and what He wants of us.
When we offer to be the hands and feet and the voice of God, then we will be able to see the power of God in us as we proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.
