Acts 9:31-42 / John 6:60-69
There was a time in the history of the world, when people thought that the Earth was flat.
So, sailing too far into the horizon would be a dangerous thing as it would mean falling off the edge of the world.
There was also a time when people thought that the Sun revolves round the earth.
So, at that time, to say that the Earth was round and that it is the Earth that revolves round the Sun would be nonsensical and unacceptable.
Because what the people perceived do not connect to the reality that the Earth was round and that the Earth revolves around the sun.
In the gospel, when Jesus talked about giving His flesh to eat, many of His followers thought that it was intolerable language.
They just cannot imagine or comprehend eating the flesh of a man, whom they perceive as just a mere human being.
So, after that many of His disciples left Him and stopped going with Him.
But for those who heard the truth and understood the message of eternal life, they had to believe.
They may not fully understand the truth and the message of eternal life, but it will be revealed unto them as long as they kept believing.
May we also keep believing in the truth and the message of eternal life.
We now know that the Earth is round and that the Earth revolves around the Sun.
We will also come to know that eating the flesh of Jesus is to come into communion with Him and it is also a foretaste of the eternal life.
