Exodus 23:20-23 / Matthew 18:1-5, 10
Upon rising to begin a new day, we would certainly want to start the first few minutes with prayer.
Among the prayers that we would remember by heart, one would surely be the Guardian Angel prayer.
And it could well be the first prayer that we need to say before we say the other prayers like the Lord's Prayer and the Hail Mary.
Certainly, we would want greet our Guardian Angels the first thing in the morning and to ask them to pray with us.
As Jesus said in the gospel: See that you never despise any of these little ones, for I tell you that their angels in heaven are continually in the presence of my Father in heaven.
Without any doubt, each of us has a Guardian Angel, who was with us since the day of our existence and will always be with us to guide us on the way to heaven.
Our Guardian Angels are God's gift to us to guard us just as the Lord said in the 1st reading that He will send an angel to guard His People on their journey.
But we must revere our Guardian Angels and listen to their promptings so that we will know what God wants of us.
Hence, we must talk to our Guardian Angels and to be aware of our Guardian Angels' presence.
Hence the Guardian Angel prayer should be said often so that we will always feel God's guidance and protection over us.
Guardian Angel prayer
Angel of God, My Guardian Dear
to whom God's love commits me here.
Ever this day be at my side
to light and guard and rule and guide.
Amen.
